MINI of Reno’s Grand Opening this summer inspired me to share my passion for MINI motoring, and everywhere that takes us on the road to livin’ life large. I hope we can use This Space to start sharing ideas for cool get-aways and driving excursions. Fun things to do when you get there. And great pit stops for chowing down (a subject near and dear to my…um, heart).

I’ll also be plugging you into the latest and greatest MINI news flashes, and I hope you’ll throw me a bone if you hear about something that’s cool, new, or delicious.

The first thing I’d like us to share are ideas for fun same-day driving trips. This past weekend, I grabbed a MINI Countryman and headed for Tahoe/Truckee. (One of the perks for being the mascot here at Bill Pearce Motors – I can choose any ride I want. Yeah, life is good). I wound up at Northstar after a gorgeous drive with the panoramic sunroof wide open and the Rippingtons jazzing up Pandora radio.

If you haven’t been to Northstar Village in awhile, let me tell you…they’ve created one of the best mountain villages in North America. Luxury condos surrounded by art galleries, boutique shops, cafes and restaurants…all centered on a year-round skating rink.

While I was there, I sniffed around the Ritz Carlton and took in the amazing Tahoe views on a scenic gondola ride. Afterwards, I plopped down by a fire pit for a quality s’mores session before motoring back down the mountain near sundown.
